A selection of courses not to be missed.
Just 10 km and about 15 minutes from Verdelago Resort is the Quinta da Ria Golf Course. Situated in the spectacular landscape of the Ria Formosa Natural Park and with an astonishing view over the sea, this course has 18 holes extending over about 6 thousand meters. Designed by famous architect Rocky Roquemore, the course has received over 300 traditional trees from the region to maintain the natural features of the landscape. Other options are the Quinta de Cima Golf Course, 9.5 km or 12 minutes away. An extremely competitive course, with dog leg holes to the left and right, and greens protected by sand bunkers and lakes. Always in permanent contact with nature. The Benamor Golf Course, another option in the vicinity of Verdelago Resort, 14 km – or just 16 minutes away, was designed by Sir Henry Cotton. This course has very different fairways and requires precise shots to prevent the ball from getting lost in the uneven areas of the terrain, over a landscape flanked by the hills to the north and the sea to the south.
Closer, just 8 km away by a 10-minute journey, we find Castro Marim. A course designed by Terry Murray, located between the Guadiana River, the Atlantic Ocean and the mountains. Perfect for more experienced golfers, this golf course, with its lakes and trees in the center of the fairways, is challenging. Monte Rei Golf & Country Club, 10 km or 15 minutes away, has two of the most spectacular golf courses integrated into the European championship, signed by Jack Nicklaus. With about 400 hectares, in a landscape marked by hills and valleys, the courses have a unique design with challenging details. Also within this area is Quinta do Vale Golf Course, 10 km or 14 minutes away. Signed by the prestigious Seve Ballesteros, the course is designed to please all golfers regardless of their handicap. With a breathtaking view over the Guadiana River, the course makes the most of the terrain’s conditions, offering spectacular holes.
